FERNIE LEADS KOOTENAY CLUBS IN CHASE FOR TECK SERIES PENNANT

The Fernie Nordic Society (216) has a narrow lead over the Toby Creek Nordic Ski Club (205), Kimberley Nordic Ski Club (193) and Golden Nordic Ski Club (166) following Teck Kootenay Cup #6 in Kimberley this past weekend.  The final Teck Kootenay Cup is scheduled for March 1st in Nelson, weather permitting.

On other fronts

  • In the north the Bulkley Valley Cross Country Ski Club of Smithers won the club aggregate (319 points) over the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club of Prince George (247) and Nechako Nordics of Vanderhoof (214).

  • At the coast the Hollyburn Cross Country Ski Club (Vancouver) is dominating the Series with 816 points following the first three races – rivalling Larch Hills in the Okanagan.  Runner up is the Spud Valley Nordiic Club (Pemberton) with 216 points. The next two Teck Coast Cup races are scheduled for March 7-8 at Mt Washington provided there is enough snow.

The Larch Hills Nordic Society (Salmon Arm) dominated the 2015 Teck Okanagan Cup Series by earning 1089 points in five races. The Sovereign Lake Nordic Club (Vernon) was the runner up with 310 points.

On other fronts

  • The Bulkley Valley Cross Country Ski Club of Smithers has a significant lead in the Teck Northern Cup Series following the third race.

  • The Toby Creek Nordic Ski Club (Invermere) holds a narrow lead over the Fernie Nordic Society (167 to 146) after the fourth race in the Teck Kootenay Cup Series.

  • At the coast the Hollyburn Cross Country Ski Club (Vancouver) continues to lead the other clubs in the region after the first two races in the Series.
