2017-18 Teck Regional Cup Series Wrap-up

Down In the Kootenays......

The Fernie Nordic Society (642 points) is the 2017-18 Teck Kootenay Cup Series club aggregate champion.  Fernie beat out last year’s winner, the Nelson Nordic Ski Club, which had accumulated 463 points.  The race for third position was close with Kimberley Nordic Ski Club (394) edging out the Black Jack Cross Country Ski Club of Rossland (360) and Toby Creek Nordic Ski Club of Invermere (295 points).  All clubs put in a solid effort for the most successful Teck Kootenay Cup Series to date.

There were a record 836 race starts in the six-race series.

On the Coast.....

The 2017-18 club aggregate champion for the Teck Coast Cup Series is once again the Hollyburn Cross Country Ski Club (North Vancouver).  Hollyburn, with 1195 points, just squeaked ahead of the Strathcona Nordic Ski Club (Courtenay) with 1048 points. Rounding out the top four in the region are the Sea to Sky Nordic Ski Club (Squamish - 311) and Whistler Nordic Ski Club (271). 

There were  1008 race starts in this six-race series, the highest number of any region.

Up North......

The Bulkley Valley Cross Country Ski Club of Smithers (499 points) overtook the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club of Prince George (269 points) in the final race to win the 2017-18 Teck Northern Cup Series for the second year in a row.  The Omineca Ski Club (Burns Lake) was third with 107 points.

The first two races of the season were cancelled due to cold weather, but one of them was able to reschedule.

Teck Okanagan Cup #1 (above)

The Larch Hills Nordic Society (Salmon Arm) led the Teck Okanagan Cup Series once again by accumulating 406 points in just two races.  The Sovereign Lake Nordic Club of Vernon (144 points) narrowly edged out the Revelstoke Nordic Ski Club (134) for second place.  This is the 6th consecutive year that Larch Hills has won the Okanagan title.

In Summary.....

There were 2493 regional cup race starts in 2017-18.
