Prince George to Host 2016 Haywood NorAm Western Canadian Cross-Country Ski Championships

Prince George, BC – From February 18 to 21, 2016, the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club will host a major ski competition at the Otway Nordic Centre. This is the third consecutive year that a Prince George cross country ski event has been sanctioned by the International Ski Federation. On the World Cup stage, Ski Tour Canada, an eight stage event, takes place between March 1st and 12th (Gatineau, Quebec, Montreal, and Canmore). The Prince George event is the final Canadian qualifying event for Ski Tour Canada. As such the Haywood NorAm in Prince George is expected to attract some of the best athletes from across Canada. The event starts with the Official training day on Thursday, February 18th and races take place on February 19th, 20th, and 21st. Also on the line is the Western Canadian Championship. British Columbia won the last time the Championships were held in Prince George (2014).
