Nakkertok has an Opportunity to Secure $250,000 to Support Snowmaking – We Need Your Help!

Dear Cross-Country Ski Community!

Nakkertok Ski Club (Ottawa/Gatineau) submitted an application to the Kraft Heinz Project Play contest to seek funding to support snowmaking at Nakkertok South. They have been named one of four finalists from 821 applicants from across the country! 

As a finalist, Nakkertok is now eligible to receive $20,000 to support snowmaking at Nakkertok South and is also able to compete for the Grand Prize of $250,000. This makes it much more likely that they will proceed with a snow making pilot project in 2016 / 2017 and opens up the possibility of creating permanent snowmaking infrastructure at Nakkertok South.
 
Snowmaking at Nakkertok South has the potential to support more cross country skiing by providing another eastern location for early season training and racing, quality snow for events hosted at Nakkertok South (e.g., Easterns), and essentially access to an extended on-snow season at a racing facility.
 
The Grand Prize Winner will be determined through voting at the Kraft Heinz Project Play website. If Nakkertok is to be the Grand Prize winner, however, they need your help!

Here’s what you can do:

1.      Help promote the campaign. They will be promoting the Nakkertok project on their Facebook Page and Twitter account until July 26. It will help tremendously if you follow these accounts and share these posts and tweets with your networks. Include the following in any social media message: #PlaceToPlay @ProjectPlay #KHPP_NAKKNORDIC

2.      Add your comments to the Nakkertok Page on the Project Play site - http://kraftheinzprojectplay.com/en/nominations/profile/nakkertok-nordic/

3.      Encourage voting. Voting will take place between July 25, 2016 at 12:00pm ET and July 26, 2016 at 11:59pm ET. Please mark this time period in your calendar! Voters must be legal residents of Canada who are 13 years of age or older. Voters can vote multiple times, although any use of mechanical or automated programs to submit votes will result in disqualification.

 
Last year, the four finalists received over 1.1 million votes! If Nakkertok is to be the Grand Prize Winner, they need your support! Anything you can do to spread the word and encourage people to vote (and vote often) for Nakkertok would be very much appreciated!
