Ideal snow conditions, energetic youth, compelling competition....

Kamloops BC; Feb 9th

Blue skies, mild temperatures and superb snow conditions greeted cross country ski racers competing in Teck BC Cup #2, which was held at the beautiful Stake Lake Cross Country Ski Area near Kamloops on the weekend.  Over 350 enthusiastic racers from as far away as Australia, Vancouver Island, Kimberly, Smithers, Golden, Penticton converged on the site to test their endurance on the challenging race trails.

Groomers worked their magic on the fresh snow, and the trails set up perfectly for the interval start free technique race Saturday and the mass start classic technique race on Sunday.

There was a distinctive buzz about the stadium as over twenty colourful teams, with their tents and equipment, prepared for the provincial races. Heart pounding action for skiers of all ages was on the agenda – from adorable Atoms through to experienced Masters – while competitive Bantam, Juvenile and Junior athletes raced the clock and their rivals for coveted Teck medals.

In addition, thousands of dollars worth of door prizes were given out thanks to enormously generous local sponsors.

The host club, Overlander Ski Club and racers of all ages enjoyed a successful and a fun filled weekend.
