Club Membership Contest – Prize Giveaway! »

The results are in for the Club Membership Contest… and there is much fantastic news to report!

First off:

  • Almost every club is ahead of where it was at on this day last year!
  • 22 clubs are already at more than 80% of last year’s total membership, and 9 of those have already exceeded it!
  • A few clubs are approaching their all-time membership record, and one has already broken it!
  • Fingers crossed for great snow in December so that all clubs do well!

Secondly, a HUGE thank you to the following for supporting this initiative:  Fischer, Swix, Salomon, Sidas, Tyax Adventures, Sovereign Lake & SilverStar, Rossignol, and Diamond Head Sports (Vauhti, Bliz, Halti).  Thank you for helping grow our healthy winter sport across BC, a true “sport for life”!

And here are your results:

  • Group A:  After many weeks of cat & mouse, Telemark has nipped Caledonia at the finish line.  Valiant effort by Sovereign Lake to almost catch both, a toe length out of 2nd.
  • Group B:  Strong finish by Overlander to keep the lead.  Massive effort by Golden to reel in a few clubs and finish 2ndNelson fended off a couple others for a 3rd place photo-finish.
  • Group C:  After more than 2 months of playing catch up, Strathcona passed Hollyburn in the final few days.  Big effort by Snow Valley to jump into 3rd with a photo finish.
  • Group D:  Sea to Sky was simply unstoppable, obliterating their all-time membership record.  Great effort by Whistler, already at a 4yr high, for 2nd.  Strong finish by Nordic Racers for 3rd
  • Group E:  Big finish by Sun Peaks to stay ahead of Valhalla Hills.  Strong finish by Nechako for 3rd.
  • Group F:  North Thompson hung onto the lead, with Skmana staying ahead of Manning for 2nd.

Winners will be contacted shortly.

  • Here’s the data for Top-3 finishes plus clubs that achieved at least 80%, ranked by percentage (of previous winter’s total membership).  Current membership total is also shown for reference.

Prizes can be used by clubs as they see fit:  to raffle off, for a family in need, to use as a volunteer draw prize, for a kids program, for an Early-Bird prize … your choice!

To win, a club has to have the highest percentage of members registered*, as of midnight Dec 1 2016, as compared to its previous winter’s total membership.   For example, a club with 200 members last year and 140 members by Dec 1 would be at 70%, and a club with 160 members last year and 120 members by Dec 1 would be at 75%.

To make things fair as well as have more winners, clubs have been divided into 6 groups and a winner will be selected from each group, for a total of 6 winners.  The prizes will be randomly distributed amongst the winners.  The groups, along with last winter’s club membership totals, are shown below.

As a recap from last season, 14 of our clubs had record or near-record membership, and quite a few others were at a multi-year high.  Amazing!  What is possible this year?

Fingers crossed for early snow!

*As reported in the Zone4 membership database.
