BC Ski Team Athlete Attends Training Camp in New Zealand

I am currently at a training camp in New Zealand with a few members of Canada’s National Ski Team.

On August 2nd, after a very long travel day, I arrived at the Snow Farm.  The Snow Farm has a trail system of long loops that wind through the valley in Cardona. The lack of trees on the trails allows for stunning panoramic views. The conditions at the camp are excellent. The sun is shining and the track is fast. We can ski right out the door of our hotel.

What I’m benefitting most from at this camp is the opportunity to train with some strong and experienced female skiers. Everyone is friendly, positive, and excited to be on snow! On our rest day we drove to Queenstown. We went on a boat tour and then to a sheep farm where New Zealand’s merino wool is sheared. Although on the other side of the world, the culture and landscape in New Zealand is quite similar to BC.

The incredible training and perfect conditions here is leaving me eager and excited for the upcoming race season!
