Everyone should be looking forward to Saturday, January 17, 2015 and the Reino Keski-Salmi Loppet. The event is always charged with energy and camaraderie in combination with an exceptional ski experience thanks to our magnificent setting and enthusiastic volunteers. You can look forward to some changes to both the event and post-event formats this year.

Both the routes and the post-event celebration have been adjusted to accommodate the youthful demographic that has become such an important part of our ski club, yet the opportunity for challenge for the elite competitors remains.

There is now a new and separate1 km course for the 4 and under children with its own start and finish line. Ages 5 to 7 ski the loop twice. 8 to 13 year olds ski 5 km and adults continue to have several recreational and competitive choices up to 34 km. The wonderful post race hot lunch and pool time will remain similar to past years.

The format of the Community Center celebration has been modified for the enjoyment of all. You can look forward to an Appie Hour from 4:00 to 5:00 with the addition of pizza pieces and beverages available for sale. The 5:00 Award Ceremony will be crisp and concise so that a Family Dance with the Turtle Valley String Band can begin at 6:00 and continue until 8:00. Pizza and beverages will be available throughout the dance, as well.

On-line registration at www.SkiLarchHills.ca remains open until midnight on Thursday, January 15 or entry forms are available through local ski shops. The final in person registration deadline is from 3:00 to 8:00 on Friday, January 16, 2015 at the SASCU Recreation Centre when ONLY cash or cheques can be accepted. Don’t miss the opportunity to take part in this spirited and friendly 31st anniversary event.
